low heat question

On my mother-in-laws 93 aerostar 3.0 auto i was getting no heat and i could see the heater core was leaking. So i replaced the thernosat, heater core and flushed the system. with in the past year all new hoses and a new water pump. now my problem is the dash vests i am getting nice hot air floor vents the same, switch over to the defrost and it s like warm at best. So i am looking around and i nothiced that the heater core box is HOT along with both heater core hoses, so there is a little door behind the heater core and when i push it open it seems to get hotter in the van on all vents. Would this be the problem for the defrost, it stil doesnt get hot hot but better. any ideas would be great

Thanks

Rich

I would check your vacuum hoses down there. You might have pulled one off accidently when you replaced the heater core.

The temp control is cable acutated. The cable could slip but that would be a problem on the floor and vent too.

Another thing to think about is that when you are in defrost the A/C is running. This de-humidifies the air to help prevent window fogging. It will also cool the hot air a little. Could this be what is causing the temp difference?
