VIN# Decode: Please Help
A 68-72 F250 just followed me home (Mommy's a little MIFFED) for dirt cheap and with no title. I know it's at least a 68 because of the side marker lights and all body panels appear to be original with original paint and NO RUST!! Please help me figure out what I have. Here's the door tag info:
F25YRE0299
Model:F253
Trans: G
Axel: 38
Body: C
Cert. Net HP:175
Thanks for any and all heip,
Gene
Going by your information, if it is correct, according to my information, your truck decodes as follows:
F25YRE0299
F25 indicates it is a F250 2WD
"Y" is the engine code and indicates that it has a 360 ci V8 with 215hp
"R" is the plant code and indicates that it was built in San Jose, CA
E0299 is the production sequence and if that is an "E", then it indicates that your truck is a 1969 and was built in September of 1968.
Your model number "F253" indicates that it is 6,100 GVW
Your transmission code shows an Automatic and your axel code shows to be a Dana 60 with 3.73 gear ratio.
Hope this helps.
