gas tanks

got an question on ebay about a plastic gas tank i have for a 78 f250. "i have a 77 chasis with a 79 body, factory high boy so the frame is narrow and there is a differentail support that may be in the way." he wants to know if ittll fit, will it? thanks

I don't think it will. I have a 69 and was going to use a tank from a 78 and it wouldn't go. I understand the 69 2wd and the 77 high boy are the same width. The crossmember he is talking about is in the way as well.

Thats a big no-go on the gas tank. The width of the frame would almost put the tank right up on the rear drive shaft, cross member or not.

chrono4 I am interested, but i need to know if it will fit in my 74 f250 4wd, so if you or anyone can answer that for me I'd appreciate it. My truck only has the behind the seat tank and it feels like i'm at the gas station everyday i need some more range.

I saw that ur gas tank didnt' sell on ebay wondering if you still have it, if i can get it in my truck i'm still interested. that is if you still have it.

If that Hiboy frame is the same as the other hiboy frame he asked about, then probably not

That's the same frame. What I did was ditch my in the cab tank, turned one of the 19 gal stock tanks sideways and mounted it just over and in front of the rear axle.It takes a lot longer filler hose but it works well.

i have an after market dual exhaust that might get in teh way but i did think about your way. I'm on vacation now so i can't really size up the truck at the moment but i'll be home soon. Thanks for the input.
