'77 460 - Good engine, with D3 heads. You will be much better off if you put in the straight up timing gears, for a '69 429. The only thing better would be performance heads from the later '60/early '70s. Hard to find and not cheap, so the '77 is a good setup. If you can afford it, put in an RV camshaft while you are there for good truck pulling capability.

C-6: Good transmission, but the car transmission generally was setup so as to have softer shifts so Grandma wouldn't be upset about the car jerking. You will have some issues with the shifter lever, though on the transmission. Make sure it is the type with a rear slip joint, not one with the bolt-on yoke. Keep the slip yoke for making up a new driveshaft for the truck! You will not easily be able to put it in Low unless you change out the internal shift rod/kickdown lever above the valve body for a one from a truck transmission. Not a hard job, especially with the transmission out of the truck.

9" Ford Rear: I assume you mean just the center punkin? The axle housing itself probably won't bolt up; the car and truck dimensions and spring perch and shock mounts are different. What gearing do you have in your truck now? Make sure the spline count is the same as well.

Sounds like a great find, good luck!

I have a similar setup in my 56 F100, it's been tricked out and it gets down the road in a hurry. If you have any questions let me know, lookslike a good choice to me.

The car axel will be narrower and should be a 28 spline instead of the truck 31 spline. My mother had a 78 lincolin with a 460 and that thing was a BEAST! It would do over 100 miles per hour and still have the low end grunt to get it sideways in toun.Good motor.
