whats a HIGH BOY?

i'm sure i'll get ripped for asking this question, hope this is the right thread.

Uh, im looking at buying a 1979 f-250 4x4 thats a "high-boy". What is a high-boy ? is it basically a body lift or what? does it make putting an aftermarket suspension lift harder or more compliated?

if it's a 1979 it's not a high boy
1977-77.5 was the last year of the highboys

you can tell the differance by the trannsmisson and transfer case, the lowboy has a married up tranny and transfer case and a highboy has a shaft between the tranny and transfer case.

Its a 67.5 to 77 F250 4x4, thats all there is to it.

The linked FAQ post above covers it in detail but it's just a 4x4 F250 built between 67-77.5. As mentioned, it will have a divorced transfer case.
