proventing windshield crack spread

My 96 150 has a small (dull pencil point) sized nick and I want to keep it from spreading, has anyone tried to use any products (that worked) to keep this from happening.

I've never seen a nick turn into a crack, thou I've seen cracks travel.
Try some glass filler/epoxy. I seen some at wallmart, but there may be better stuff at your local autoparts stores.

I should specify: This is a rock chip. It has spirdered out a little and has 5 (1/16"-1/8") crack lines splintering from the center. I don"t know how long it has been there or if it has grown, it was hiding out of sight in front of my rearview mirror. What do you think, fixable or time to throw in a new windshield? Thanks in advance for all the help.

The pressurized epoxy stuff is fairly cheap and will work for quite a long time under normal driving. The pressure is used to force the expoxy into the cracks.
From your description it sound like it would work well.
If you have glass coverage on your insurance, they will pay you to have this done over replacing the windshield btw. (well they used to, its been a few years)

Cool, thanks for the help. Do you know where I could find this product and is it better to have it professionally installed or can I do it myself?

most windsheild shops can repairit. My insurance covers the repair for me, so it's free. They were going to do my VW while they were there but he wanted $25 cash.
