i have a 81 f150 2wd swb and im looking for a 4x4 frame to put the 2wd body on. i was thinking a 79 frame with a solid front axle.#1 what frame do yall think is the best? #2 what all frames match my cab mounts (what all frames can i put my 81 body on)? #3 could i get a 79 f250 single cab long wheel base and cut the frame to be short wheel base ?? any advice will be appreciated
Body mounts that will match are the 80-97 truck frames. Solid axle options are 85.5-97 F-350 4x4 trucks.
Of course, with a moderate amount of fabrication skill, you can stick just about any body on any frame you want
Yes you can cut the frame short, and move the axle forward. Quite a few people have done this.
I would think a mid 70's High-Boy frame would be best if your looking to cut and shorten. There straight as an arrow down the frame rails all the way back, were the 77.5+ frames widen from just about right behind the cab to in front of the springs.
yea some of them are. i saw a post on that and they said for it to be a cheese frame u had to have big holes in the frame. mine has holes in it but they a small holes so i dont think mine is. i hope not
