Bombarded Wit Pop Ups!!!

I recently went from a dial up modem to DSL and I am mow bombarded with pop up ads. I have three or four blockers installed and running and they seem to get by that! Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Larry M

If your computer is new it will have a popup blocker built in. to check this go to your interent then open tools then scroll to pop up blocker. Make sure you don't have it turned off

You could have 10 pop up blockers and they will not help. What you need is spyware blocker/ removers. I install spywareblaster and spybot for all my customers they are freeware/ donationware. If you keep them updated then your problems should go away.

Between SpywareGaurd, SpywareBlaster, AdawareSE and Google pop-up blocker, I haven't found one piece of spyware nor any pop ups on my puter in better than two years.

Make sure you have messenger service turned off. Start/Control Panel/Admministrator Tools/Services/Messenger. Right click properties then under startuptype and select disable.
Messenger service is used by network admins. to send messages to workstations on the network. Some ad companys use this service to send ads to any comp. thats on the intarweb.
Dont get it confused with the Instant Messenger program on your computer.

Always use a Firewall on your computer Zonealarm is free and effective.

I was referred to lavasoft.com. Free but you have to keep it updated! Little buggers still get in but not like some other bug etc. blockers.

What browser are you using? I think Mozilla Firefox might be better about blocking pop-ups than IE.

Im using firefox aswell. Although you dont get as many cool stuff. It blocks pop ups. I get almost zero pop ups. Plus you get the little tab feature. You can have 5+ windows open, in tabs, and be in only one window screen.

I tried everything that has been suggested with no results. I ran the system restore and it is like new again. All I had to do is re-load all my software for the extra junk I have. Not a pop up has showed up in two days.

Make sure you install the Spyware programs now while it is clean. I sugest Spywareblaster, Spybot, and also Zone Alarm firewall. The first 2 are freeware/donationware. Zone alarm has a free version, but I would upgrade to Pro.

Just make sure you keep all your anti spyware up to date and fire walls are in place. Anti virus programs do not catch all trojans and these can be gotten in the very unexpected places.
