QUICK HELP!! Fuel Pump Replacement
I'm out in the cold replacing my fuel pump (would only run 61 psi max) but I can't figure out how to get the fuel lines off the fuel pump. They look like quick connects, and that they should just pull right off. But they're not.
Please help me on how to get those quick connects off the fuel pump. I'm running out of light and it's getting colder outside.

It takes a special tool. The tool looks like a little cone on the end and it fits inside the hose and you push. I had to buy one for my little ranger a few years back. I got mine at Advanced Autoparts. I'm not sure of the size, but hold on I or somebody will find it.

I just saw a different version of it on one of the Diesel Performance sites the other day. And it said the size. Their version was a little plastic looking cone with a split in it so you could slip it over the line and I guess use pliers to push it in. I'm looking....

From what I found on DieselManor the Supply line is is 3/8 and the return is 5/16.

The fule pump has 5/16" lines in and out. My O-ring coupler release tools came as a complete set from 3/4" down to 1/4"

Hey Kwik, what is the limiting factor on the 70psi? I have my adjustable regulator set to about 72 which seems to be what most guys run. Just curious if it is a shim mod constraint or what. Also, when you turn on the key does the pressure shoot to max, or does it build a little more slowly. I'm pretty sure my pump has seen better days since it has about 180,000 on it at this point, but I want to document a little bit of the performance before and after swapping it so I can post the results. I'm leaning towards just splurging and getting a nice isolated fuel gauge for the cab. Hmmmm... another gauge.....
