Screech in steering

Screech in steering

Need help. My truck has developed a screech when I turn left or right. It is not a belt screech. Actually sounds like metal to metal grinding. Any help?

Could be the upper of lower ball joints. After some time they will dry out and you get the noise you speak of. By the way, what are you driveing?

F350 Crewcab Dually powerstroke. All balljoints greased regularly.

From: Too close to Houston

Try a few drops of oil on the steering wheel shaft where it enters the steering gear. Mine had a good squeek (wouldn't call it a screech) after I replaced a power steering hose. A little oil has kept it quiet since.
