97 ranger wiring question...

I have a friend with a 97 Ranger. A previous owner chopped out the radio harness plugs, installing a new radio. I was wondering if there is a standard color-scheme on the stereo wiring for this particular truck, so I can rewire a stereo into it for him?

Trying to save about 30 minutes of probing with the old DMM and a battery...ARGH!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated...I need the info as quickly as possible...

Since you recognize that the harness was chopped, you obviously know where it is. I seem to recall that Ford used Yellow as the hot wire, (equivalent to the red power lead on aftermarket radios). If you could find a Ranger in a salvage yard, you might be able to find a harness. As far as a ground, just connect it to the frame. The speaker wires run in somewhat coordinating colors, with the ground wire having a black stripe on it for each speaker wire. For instance, I don't know if they use gray, but, one speaker set would be gray and gray/black stripe. Do you get what I mean? It's been a while since I've dealt with one without the harness, but I think that's how it goes. Hope this helps.

go over to the rangerstation (do a search).com and they have all the wiring harness info there as a general reference.
