New around here. And new to my Bronco. I bought an 87 Bronco a couple of weeks ago, aand so far I love it. It has some minor problems, but nothing unfixable. Got a couple of leaks, valve cover gaskets, rear main seal, and tranny pan gasket. No big deal really.
I have read through alot of old posts regarding tire size on stock Bronco's. I wanted to beef mine up, but did not want to put the money in to lift it. I put 33-12.50 r15's on yesterday, and I LOVE them!! They really make the Bronc look tough. They do rub, but only at full turn. (figured I could deal with that)
Next step is getting the leaks fixed and doing something with the exhaust. Both manifolds are cracked.
if both manifolds are cracked replace them with a set of shorty headers. jba, gibson, edelbrock, bassini and BBK all make great quality parts. with that also think about getting the rest of the exhaust done to. You can pick up the bassini Y pipe on ebay for a great price. 1 would have catalitic converters, the other would not and of course is cheaper. then from were that Y pipe ends i would run a single 3" exhaust with either a flowmaster or magnaflow muffler. this will increase some performance and some mpg as well especially since you installed those larger tires.
Thanks. I took it to a local muffler shop and they said they would put Flowmasters on it. They did say however that they could not touch the manifolds. That is fine I have a guy that can put the headers on. In our state we do not have any emission testing or inspections. (welcome to SC) Hypothetically asking.. What if I cut both cats out from under it?? Trouble or not??
