squeaky belts

I don't seem to be able to get my belts to stop squeaking.Tried belt dressing,Tightening them.Nothing seems to help. The noise is terrible.Could this be something else like water pump or power steering pump?Just stated doing this in the last month.

It could be the power steering or water pump starting to go. The easiest to check would be to see if there are any leaks around the shaft on your water pump. I'd bet you are thinking in the right direction.

Did you try replacing them with a quality belt like a Dayco TopCog or Goodyear Gatorback? These belts are made to a much higher quality than the $5 ones....

A waterpump will squeal all the time, a power steering pump will usually only squeal when turning, and an alternator will squeal in bursts (not constant).

Try removing one belt and starting it up, if it still squeals try the other.
Look for glazed condition on the inside of the belts. A glazed belt will not grab.
Do you have an idler pulley? The bearings can go bad and make noise. The bearings can be replaced, without replacing the pulley.
