Plastic Door Handles
Does anyone know how or does anyone make a door handle reinforcement that would keep them from getting in this way?
Thanks
I wish I could remember what it is called, but there is someone who makes a metal plate that goes behind the lock cylinder and prevents the door from being opened. I believe someone had a link to it in one of their posts. I am sure someone will come along and remember the name, but such a thing does exist.
The newer handles have a metal tab on them that helps, but if they really want in they'll just bend the sheet metal around the handle and that's an even bigger hassel. If you need new handles we have the Ford factory painted ones available at pretty good prices. Bright red, black, white, dark blue and grey.

Fast foward to Dec. 28, 2005. Tried to break in the passenger side. The door handle was pried out a little bit from the top of the door. I think the jimmijammers slowed them down a bit, but they still got in. The only thing I can think of, is the alarm went off after they got in. All they got was a Lowes gift card and a small wallet. Had a bunch of tools and other valuables behind the seat.
Going to try rear CrewCab door handles(no lock cylinder hole), and some more sensors for my alarm. Also took out everything that had any valuable personal info on it.
You got very lucky they didn't take anything. It a horrible feeling when you see somebody broke into your pride and joy you work hard for. Get some added security, because they will be back. -Marco
