I have a 02 F250 Lariat 5.4V8 with Viper 250 alarm.
The door ajar warning light stays on constantly now. This causes the door to not lock automatically after shifting to drive and there's it doesn't recognize that the door is open, i.e. dome light doens't come one when I open the door.
The battery went completely dead after being out of town for an extended time. I had to let it sit with the jumer cables hooked up for a few minutes before it would even try to crank. On the first few tries, it would try to start until it used up all the power and then the start would click, then everything went dead again. Finally it cranked up, everything was ok except the door ajar warning light staying on. I'm thinking maybe the power surged causing this.
Does this sound like a problem with the truck itself or from the Viper alarm?
You did not mention if your SD is a regular, SuperCab, or CrewCab. But I would suggest getting a can of WD-40 (or any lub) and spray the door hing locks. The SD's have a known issue with this. They get dirty or dry and do not close completely with the switch located in the door.
My father's 2001 F250 CC SWB 4x4 had a similiar issue. However, his dome light would not go off...even with the doors closed. Did the spray trick...and all is back to normal.
all new fords have this issue. the factory does not lube them. spray down the entire lock mechanism with lube ,wd40 will clean it but not lube it the best.
