I bought a used 03 Expy. I need a keyless remote but don't know
1) They said to check to see if I had a keyless remote system
2) They didn't have the instructions to reprogram the remote.
Does anyone know where to find the number to indicate a keyless remote and alarm and how to reprogram the fobs? and which type to get some have 4 some only have 2 buttons?
thanks

Dealer claims they can't tell from the VIN whether or not the car has auto remote but since there aren't keys in any of the other doors that they suspect it does.
So, ordered the remotes... does anyone have the reprogramming instructions for the remotes?
I will see if I can find the instructions for my Super Duty tonight. I would think they will be the same.
I think your dealer is giving you the run around. I also have a jeep. I called a buddy that is a mechanic. he told me every oil change it had, that the stereo was replaced and asked if I had the remotes. Because it told him. I dont think ford is that far behind in the times
They should be able to look up your vehicle build by the VIN, and see if it was built with RKE. If there is a keyless keypad on the door, it definitely has RKE. If not, it still may have it. For programming, you first hit the unlock button on the door, then cycle the ignition key from off to run 8 times, ending in run. The door locks should cycle (indicating programming mode has been entered), and then you press any button on each key fob and the door locks should cycle indicating that the fob has successfully been programmed. Turn off the key to exit programming mode. Come to think of it, before you get the fobs, try to enter programming mode, and if it cycles the locks, then you have RKE.
Okay I havent been able to locate it but I have done another one. I think it is you turn the key on and off 8-10 times fast and then hit lock and unlock a couple of times. I think the key should end up in the on position. You might also try holding a button. I will keep looking
I had the same problem. Bought a used 01 and the dealer wanted to charge $40.00 to give me my door code. I found it for free on this site.
I am not sure about the 03, but on my 01, the keyless entry, remote and security box is located above the emergency brake on the firewall. Quite a ways up, but accessible. It is a tan box. If you have keyless entry, the 5 digit code to your vehicle is printed on the outside of this box.
You can go to Ford's website and download for free an owners manual which will tell you how to do all of your programing, from remotes to keys. The instructions above are correct, but you have to stop the eighth turn in the on position. After doing so, the locks will cycle comfirming the programing mode. after this just push any button on your remote, then within 20 secs any button on a 2nd if you have it. Its too simple. Good luck.
Does anyone know how to turnoff that annoying alarm for seatbelt not buckled?
I've changed the timing of when doorlocks go on, so they wouldn't lock the doors when car put in gear before, that was in manual,& was EZ.
The dealer coun't get code for KES or make the RKE work. told us of remote start on the Excusion , but failed to give us the handheld.

Reason: typeing error
All I needed was to add remotes to my receiver. I got new units for about 1/3 dealer price for my 97 Expedition and 03 F-150 on http://www.ThePartsYouNeed.com
They seem to have remotes for everything on their site.
