Saved your post on the door chime deal. Got my truck today and went to look for it. Under this panel I found a plug connection that has a pink wire with black stripe. Is this the wire to snip? I ask this because in a bundle right along side of this plug runs a black wire with pink stripe. It's not to a plug, at least not in this immediate area. I plan in putting a small switch in the chime wire to just disable it when it's actually needed. Thanks for your help.
Do you have a 05 or 06? Mine was a 05.
If you remove this plug where it pluged into at the ignition switch, you will not be able to start the truck. You can remove the wire from the plug by removing the red (I think it's red) insert from between the wires. Carefully push the retainer clip out of the way, then you can remove the wire as necessary without cutting any wires. You can do this with every wire that is in the plug. The plug will have 7 wires across in a straight line plug.
The wire should be the 5th wire. It's a black with pink strip. If you remove this wire, you can replug the plug onto the switch and try it without reinserting the center red wire seperator. If this is the correct wire, then remove the plug from the switch again and reinsert the red wire seperator that goes between the wires in the plug. Again, this is for the 2005 F-150 model. I don't know if it applies to the 2006 or not.My understanding is that the 2004 is different also.
Let me know if this helps you.
Thanks for the reply. I worked on this the past weekend and found out there is a difference between to 05 and 06 models. Can't figure out why they would have to incorporate a change like this. I'm going to post a new thread so any others wanting to do this will be advised. Thanks again.

I have an 06 and found out it is different. Remove the panel below the steering column. You will see two plugs but stay away from them. Along the left side of these plugs, you will see two fairly thick groups of wire. In check each bundle and you will find a black wire with a pink stripe. This will be you wire. As I only wanted it disabled at certain times, I bought a small toggle switch and mounted it on the piece of plastic just to the right of the gas peddle. You might see a pink wire with a black stripe which goes to one on these plugs, stay away from that wire.
