Help with my starter

Hi everyone, I am new and I need some help. I hope you guys can give me some ideas.

I have a 94 XLT 4.0 V6 automatic 4x4 with 75,000 miles on it and it will not start. I recently replaced the starter, alternator, and starter solenoid and it started for about 2 months( maybe 300-500 miles) and quit again. Well I took the starter off again and had it tested at my local starer and alternator shop because it was popping and not truning like it had the last time. Well it worked in the shop (it didnt work when I tested it at home) but the guy replaced the part that the power cords go into. I put it back on my truck and it does not work.

My question is: should I replace the battery cables and the ignition relay or what should I do? Thanks in advance for respnses. They are greatly appreciated.

Welcome to FTE WNCRanger

Don't envy you having to tinker with the starter this time of year up there in the mountains of western North Carolina!!!!

We need to do some troubleshooting, before replacing parts.

On the battery cables, make sure ALL the connections are clean, bright & tight, on both ends, of both battery cables & their connections, all the way to the starter motor.

If you suspect a cable may have a internal problem, try making a parallel connection along each battery lead, one at a time, with a good quality jumper cable.
That way you can isolate it, if you have a bad one & you'll know it's bad, if it'll crank & start with the jumper in place!!!!

Let us know what you find.

yea its not fun outside having to work on it but you gotta do what you gotta do right?

Anyway, tonight i bought some new cables to put on it: 1. Because they aren't too expensive and 2. because i really think that is the problem since i have replaced just about everything else dealing with it. The question I have now is how to connect them. The ones I bought are generic i believe and there are three different cables coming from each terminal hookup. Now, the positive side on my factory cables coming from the terminal only has 2 leads.
Can anyone give me a walkthrough on how to connect these?
thanks
