which programmer?

i realize this topic has been discussed to death, but being new here and having searched to no avail and not having time to read 2300+ posts , i would like opinions on programming chips for a '04 f250 SD,6.0 PSD. i have heard of the Tony Wildman and 1805 flashpac Superchip, but cannot find the pros and cons of them vs others...

any advice greatly appreciated...

what makes the Superchip better/different than, say, the Juice or Tony Wildman?

cheap...simple...and a lot of worry free horsepower! No worries about EGT and damaging your engine. Take the time to read the treads...a lot of the post are by some very smart folks who have a lot to do with the programmers.

kl67 is absolutely correct.
The SCMT 1704 is a great product for the price. Safe HP, great tranny shifting and it is simple as pie to load and unload.
The first time you squalk the tires shifting into second gear, you will be a believer.
The SCMT is also very well know around this forum, which is an added benefit.
Buy one and the 6.0 grin grows much larger.

Hello wymanwinn, not trying to cause you any confusion, but I had the 1704 and now I have the predator. The 1704 had more power to produce than the diablo, but the 1704 shifts are alot firmer[harder] and you have to mail it back in for adjustments of any kind. The predator shifts are alot smoother and you can also get an adapter to hook to your compuer for updateable downloads.
The power differance between the two are only 30 hp I beleave. Im not sure what you are looking for, but to me you seem to have more flexability with the diablo predator.

Thanks for your time
Jeff

I am running a Triple Dog Power Pup on my 06 right now and it has a awesome powerband and has incredible shifting. I am much more impressed with it than I was the 1704-A on my 04 F-250. ALSO, the shift on the fly adjustments are pretty cool. It works just like a module/box just a push of a button and youve got an extra 100 HP's not wait 10 minutes like on the SCMT. Also, installs within 2-3 minutes on initial install.

The new superchips programmer has a little softer WOT shift than earlier programmers and is internet updateable.

Yeh I have read a little about it, do you have one?, and the cost seems to be about $200 higher than the others, including the predator.

Thanks for your time

The new superchips tuner has all of the same tuning as the later versions of the 1704A and 1706.

Basically, if you buy a 17 series tuner or 18 series tuner, you get the same power but the new 18 series has mroe features.

I did the TUNING, but the hardware and firmware design of the 18 series had little to do with me.
I gave a couple opinions on the buttons and voted on the shape of the case and that about it.
The project was completed AFTER I left superchips, but my tuning for the latest 1704A,1706 stuff was plugged directly into the 18 series tuner.

A new feature is being able to adjust speedo (and respectively, shifts) for gear and tire changes, something previously impossible with the 1704,1704-A, 1706 and Diablo's Predator.

I think diesel tuning is finally in the midst of an all-out war.

For awhile, there was Superchips, Edge and the Predator...THEN everyone else.

Everyone seems to be coming out with new tuners, revisions (Superchips included), etc, etc to see who can outfeature the others.

Damn, I'm glad I'm out of the tuning business, LOL! I'd never sleep.

However, this is good for the user. Lots of competition.

Hypertech had crap for a long time and it looks like they are on the power bandwagon now? We'll see.

Bullydog has faltered a lot with their products and HP claims (wth bad drivability), but maybe the new stuff is different?

Competition is good............just remember, a lot of the "other" guys are finally making the power because they have finally accessed other peoples tuning and are finally figuring it out.

It wa really fun being a pioneer in the 6.0 project, and it's gong to kind of suck to be out of the loop with the new engine when it comes out.
I'll be the newbie!

When I bought my scmt with advice from vic, it was the only tuner that recalibrated shift points. Not sure if this is still true, but I'm sure vic knows

The SCT recalibrates shift poiints! I have the SCT Xcalibrator 2 from Innovative Diesel. I just got it today. I have had a meriad of other tuners on my vehicles in the past. I found SCT for my Lightning a few years ago... I haven't used anything else since! I have not found a better tuner that is CUSTOM to each spec. (Including any other mods you have for your truck!).

You have to realize that there are very few tuners that sell SCT on this site. Other sites have more info on the FULL array of tuners available. It is a big investment, do your homework BEFORE you buy! You will be glad you did!
