i forgot to mention this is for an 89 f350...also does the main(upper) return spring go on the backside or on the frontside of the shoes
according to my hayes manual the main return spring goes on from the backside and the primary shoe goes toward the front but how do i know which one is primary...one is thicker and has more lining than the other so i might be making a wrong assumption that this is the primary because according to andym than it would be backwards
man i hate brake shoes...i think i may have a bad hardware kit or shoes because the hold down springs r real loose...it also came with two u shaped clips about the size of a dime that i do not know where they go
does anyone have a procedure for doing brake shoes? picture? anything of use?
this sucks
maybe but ill be darned on how to install it...my ebrake assembly breakdown is a bolt w washer going through-spring, ebrake, metal lever to force both shoes out, adjuster cable , and lastly bushing...i hope that is right...all those parts have holes and i do not know how a u shaped clipped fits into that setup
The horseshoe clip is used to hold the e-brake arm onto the rear shoe. If yours is attached differently, I wouldn't worry about it.
The springs you got should hold the shoes on there TIGHT. The hook-shaped thing that goes through the backing plate and sticks out the front hooks onto the small, V-shaped springs. I don't have a picture handy, sorry. A haynes or chiltons manual should help out.
