Cold Ride Home
in the middle of the night. I rolled the rear window down and dropped the tailgate to load the luggage. After doing this I could not get the tailgate latched again. I played with the latches and finally got it to at least hold shut. The right side (passenger) however definately was not latching properly. I stopped and got some gas line antifreeze and poured it over the latches thinking that they had frozen but had little luck. Needless to say the +70 mile ride home was more than a little cold with the back window down on top of the typical poor Bronco heat!If I remember properly the safety switch for the rear glass is on the left side (drivers) isn't it? I can press the latches together and get them to hold shut and then pull the handle to release them, so the internal latching mechanism should be working. I see no signs of the passenger side latching pin having moved. Any other ideas?
