Towing through tunnels

I'm thinking about pulling my travel trailer from NJ to FL. The trailer has 2, 30lb propane tanks. Does anyone know if I can go through tunnels or would I need to find a route around them?

Thanks

You should be able to go through tunnels. Two 30# bottles is not enough to be considered a hazard like a 18 wheeler tanker carring 5000 gallons is.

I've towed my TT through the Detroit-Windsor tunnel in the past. I don't remember any propane restrictions, but I believe the tank valves should be closed.

I don't think there are any tunnels between NJ and FL.

You hit tunnels around Baltimore.

It has been years since I traveled through Baltimore but I remember seeing signs restricting cylinders. Be safe and do some further checking expecially if yours are visible.

As you approach Baltimore from the north, stay on 95 and avoid 895. 95 has bridges, 895 has the Harbor Tunnel. There aren't any other tunnels between NJ and Florida.

Just before Baltimore take either 695 east or west around the tunnels.East has the Key bridge with a toll.West is a couple mile's farther but no toll.

theres also the cheasapeke bay bridge/tunnel, but im not sure if you hit that on your travels. from what i read, propane and such is strictly forbad, or maybe you have to get it inspected first.

You could also check to see if you are allowed to carry the tanks empty and then fill them at some point beyond the tunnels.

No going to empty the tanks and waste 60 lbs of propone. Plus I like to travel with the fridge on.

The bay bridge tunnel and the Hampton Roads tunnel requires an inspection to make sure the propane is cut off and nothing is running. It only takes a minute.
