2005 Emblem on Tailgate

I want to debadge the "F-150" emblem on the tailgate, but before I do, I have a quick question. I am fully aware that the "F-150" emblems on the left and right fenders are held on by adhesive and pins. I want to remove the rear emblem to get a cleaner look, but it wouldnt make sense for Ford to make holes on the tailgate just for the badges. Does anyone know if the rear badge is also held on my pins, because if it is only held on by adhesive, I am going to remove it tommorow.

there ARE pins in the tailgate emblem also. I asked at the dealer when I picked my truck up. I found out the hard way on my Superduty that there wre holes.

I think I remember seeing a picture with the emblem removed and there is a rather large hole underneath. I saw the picture on this site but cannot remember who posted. I would like to remove mine to continue Lincoln LT conversion. Good Luck!

Not only will you have the holes, but a depression where the Emblem sits. With these two factors it will not from my perspective look cleaner.

I even called. the dealership and they told me there wouldnt be holes.....So I trusted the STEALRSHIP and tried to remove it.....Well there are two holes...and well, I spent $23 ordering a new emblem.......what a bad day...on top of this, my father god rear ended by a careless 18 year old child on the highway...

What is the best method to remove this stuff? Im gonna try to heat it up a little use goo gone. Goo gone hasnt failed me yet.

Whatever you use to get the adhesive off, just make sure you wax the area afterwords. I'm sure it will strip the wax off the paint.

took me just now, an hour to remove all that *****!!! My fingernails hurt from me trying to rub the stuff off. I used a heat gun and goo gone. I will clean, and wax the surface tommorow before adhering my new emblem.

If I had mine off I would take it to a pro body shop and have the indent/depression filled and painted. If i had not spent so much on other toys for it and Christmas I would do that to mine now. I guess I will have to wait a bit. I would also have the F150 emblem removed. If you are not converting over to the LT or something why would anyone want to remove the nice emblems?

IS300, you might want to put the piece back on before waxing. The adhesive probably won't adhear too well if waxed.
