Torque Converter not locking up?
A little background: My truck is an '01 F-150, 4x4, 5.4L, single cab, short bed with 80,000 miles. I have the 100,000 mile warranty from Ford, so I try to perform the scheduled maintenence. I do most of my own maintenence, but decided to take it in to Jiffy Lube
for a transmission flush last week. Since then I've been in slow commuter traffic mostly, but on the way home this evening I got it up to speed and it felt like it was running at a higher rpm than normal. My questions are:
1. Has anyone heard of this problem after a transmission flush?
2. When performing a transmission flush, is there some procedure that involves disabling the converter lockup?
Side Note: That's the last time I go to Jiffy Lube. Apparently when they disconnected teh flushing machine (?) from the transmission lines there was excess pressure, which resulted in my engine compartment being COVERED in ATF. After I noticed it they did a half-hearted job at hosing it down with some engine degreaser.
