TRU-COOL Cooler

Please tell me the flow of the transmission fluid from the transmission to the cooler. Is it Back of transmission first or does it start in the Front. Ive added a tru-cool with the OEM still in line and cant see ant difference, My thinking is ive hooked it up wrong

The line to the back of the transmission is the return line from the coolers.

If it is not doing it's job, I would check your plumbing and do a flow check to see you do not have to much resistance. Check back with supplier for some tech support. Good Luck.

What kind of temps are you getting? I notice on mine(rated at 28,000 GVW) it still gets rather warm pulling a load driving thru town, stop and go , around 200 degrees with my tru-cool. The converter is causing most of the heat in this situation..

Did you hook the cooler into the line after the stock cooler? That's what they recommend.

ya it is kind of confusing with all the cooler lines running everywhere at first i hooked mine up to the power steering line because i could see the inlet for the stock trans cooler and there was a line right next to it and i thought it was the return because when i pulled the line tranny fluid ran out. i forgot the p.s. pump uses tranny fluid. but now i got it working and i never see over 125 but its very cold here. before it i was seeing 190-210

i have that same setup and i have not see my tranny reach 100 degrees since the temps went below 40 degrees ambient.... of course i haven't been towing anything either... the tru-cool did make a big difference when towing in the summer heat..!

Unhappy

Driving around town in Florida without load 75 degrees in stop and go i run about 145 Degrees Highway at 70-75 mph about 150 degrees. I expected a bigger drop off if there is any i dont know. I will check the flow next and really testy it when I pull My 12000lb 5th wheel.

your temps sound about right. 80 degrees above ambient is the normal temp with an aftermarket cooler

I was thinking a major drop off from what i saw. I'm afraid that in the summer that when it is 95 outside I'm going to be pushing 200 degrees again and i dont want that.

Don't forget about the bypass valve. On mine it doesn't seem to be fully open until the temps are around 150. I haven't seen much higher than 120 or so since the temps dropped. When I first installed it it was still in the lower 80s and it still never got above 150deg. empty, Closer to 180 when towing the 5th wheel. Prior to the cooler, i'd see 200s when driving around town, since the cooler have only seen 150 since the cooler and the Sonnax kit.
