Diesel research

I'm doing some research on wether to get the 6.0 or the v10. I've heard the phrase that a diesel has never been "smoked in". What does this mean? Any help would be appreciated!!

Never heard that term. Diesel engines are more expensive to purchase and run but they last longer and have better resale value from what I've seen. So whether to get one or not depends on what you are specifically looking for and what you are going to do with it. All a personal preference.

Dont forget, the diesel can get twice the fuel economy as the V10 also.

Yeah, fuel mileage is one of the good points. I've been weighing the good and bad points of both. I would like to have that diesel power, though. I've driven the 7.3 ps, and that was awesome! I'm going to have to go and drive both.

Maybe they are referring to the possible fact that no one has smoked in the cab of the truck. A great selling point if you are a non-smoker. That is how I would interpret it.

Our 04 is getting between 15-20 MPG depending how hard I push it. It gets around 11 towing a 9000 lb trailer.

I don't know. It sounded like something that was done to the motor. No clue, I'm still trying to learn all of this diesel stuff!! I appreciate the feedback!
