Wiil it work?
Can I eliminate the need for a low pressure pump if I replace the gas tank such that the new tank is above the high pressure pump on the frame rail and the feed line is coming out the bottom of the gas tank (gravity feed)?
I know that there may be safety issues to consider with a system like this, but I'm looking to find out if a system like this could work.

With EFI you have fuel rails that have an in and out end, what fuel isn't used is returned to the gas tank and recycled. Taking this into account, I would just go with a high pressure pump to make sure you have enough, you won't be wasting any gas and the extra expense for a high pressure pump is negligible.
