Question 3.0 Duratec Engine Expected Life

I have been looking around to get a late 90's or early 2000 model wagon (Taurus or Sable, obviously) with this engine and was wondering how many miles can be expected to get out of this engine (and transaxle for that matter). Looking to "upgrade" my '94 Sable with a 3.8L which is my econo car in-lieu of the F-250 V-10. Any other insight into the wagon would be helpful. The Mrs. had a '02 Sable that had this motor (we put 57K miles on it) that we traded on her '03 V8 Explorer. I am experienced with this engine some, but have no feel for the expected life of the drivetrain.

Thanks in advance for the insight and comments.

Mike

I had a 99 taurus with the duratec and it had 88,000 miles on it when I traded it on a 2005 escape with the same engine. The 99 worked as new when I traded it in. No oil leaks and very low oil consumption. Good engine... I read that ford is creating a 3.5L version of the duratec with roughly 250 horsepower. I cannot wait to see how that engine works...

I have heard off the record that they are considerably higher than that on the dyno(280+), but ford is only rating it at 255.
