Dash removal?

I have an 03 Excursion and need to replace the stock stereo. The clips have been damaged so a removal tool won't work. Anyone know how the dash comes out? Thanks.

Yes but doesn't the radio have to come out first to get the dash off..Sounds like you are in a pickle. Some radio shops may be able to help you. They can get anything outa there. If you know how the clips work it gives you an advantage.

I thought the radio was attached to the dash and should come out with dash? Does the radio actually mount to metal behind the dash so it has to be removed first?

Rather than start a new thread, I figured I would ask my question in this one, as a search netted only marginal results.

Patient: '01 F250
I've got a light burned-out behind the climate control switches (A/C, Fan, etc.) just below the radio. Is a full front dash removal (as noted in THIS thread) required to do this?

Same as above yes. Its called the cluster panel if I remember. The manuals are not easy to follow and I've just pulled the dash off my aerostar so I'm all messed up.

The answer to both questions is the radio comes out first then there are 2 screws behind the radio to remove and the dash will pull off. The ac controlls are then held in by 4 screws.

Any Ideas how to get the radio out with damaged clips?

I would just take it to a local shop (Not a retail store) and see if they can get it out.
