Engine Compatibility

I have a lime green 1978 Bronco Ranger XLT with the 351M/400 and a four-speed. I found out a common problem with the M-blocks that I have come to meet. The oil pump went out and the pistons locked right up, thank the lord I was on my own land. The engine is way beyond repair, the cylinders are scored something horrible. I was wondering what engines will bolt down to replace the deceased M-block. If I am not mistaken, the M-block has a big block bellhousing and motor mounts but i'm not totally sure. I would like to have the original 351 powering my mini-monster but it just depends what comes across easier, parts wise. Thanks.

460 would be your next option. it will bolt to the tranny not sure on mounts, just do a search for 460 swap. you will find lots of info on here and on the web

We did a 460 in a 78 bronco some years ago and it was a drop in, well other than exhaust but it needed a new exhaust anyways.
