I checked the connections on my light sockets and they appear to be ok. They have never been replaced as far as i know. Maybe they are old and need to be replaced? Also my hazard lights are going at super high speed, in addition to my reverse lights not coming on, and my left blinker still turns on both blinkers, and the radio still does not work. I checked for a short and couldnt find one, at least on the rear bumper. I used a test light on the cable that goes to the reverse lights because they dont turn on. I followed it up to the steering column. There it is getting power but i lose the cable when it goes through the firewall. Is there a fuselink in that cable line that could be broken? If someone has a picture of the wiring under the rear bumper of a 77 f150 i would love to look at it. also, any more help on how to solve my crazy wiring problem would really help. thanks
Tiny,
Don't start a new topic. Stay on your old one until were threw with it. Did you disconnect your grounds and sand them off and reconnect them? Your reverse light is turned on through the neutral safety switch in the transmission, I think. They switched the Neutral/Safety Switch in 77 or 78. Its either on the trans or on the steering column. That's where the power comes from. If your bumper is rusted at the frame you will need to ground your bumper to the frame to get those lights to work. Check your grounds and I'll guarantee you'll solve your little strange lighting problems.
