rear end

i have a 1986 ford bronco i changed the rear end but i did not know about gear ratios i need to find out what gear ratio i have on the front so i can get one to match in the rear please help me there are no tags on the front end or old rear end

i have a 1986 ford bronco can i engage my front hubs and take it out of 4 wheel drive and preform the test you mentioned
do i need to disconnect rear shaft it is bad when i preform test

If you still have a door sticker on the drivers door, look under axle and see what code it is. That will tell you the axle and gears for that vehicle. That is if they have not been changed before. for example if the code reads r7 then the rear is a limited slip 7.5 with 4:10 thus your front end would be 4:10s also. If you get the code post it and I will look up the axle.

i don't have a door sticker but i just did a test on the front end and it seems to be a 3:5 do i need to find 3: rear also

Most likely it is a 3:45 ratio, that was a common gear for the ranger. Yes your front and rear need to match.
