Question leaky valve cover

have a 1988 302 in a f150 4x4
however the intake sits over the valve cover, how do I fix the leak, do I have to remove the planum? it would seem that it has to be done that way since the valve cover screws are covered...
any ideas?

Thanks and good camping...

Yup, that's the way it works. That plenum has to come off. It's not too bad a job really, just watch out for those coolant hoses.

Ya you'll have to take the upper plenium off. It's not bad, can be done in 2-3 hours max, I've done it a couple times and can do it in about 30-45 minutes.

Tips:

Use something to cap the coolant hoses at the top and bottom of the throttle body (left side of it). I used the plastic caps to some gear oil jugs, stuffed em' in the end of the hose. You'll want to replace the throttle body gasket and the gasket between the upper/lower plenium.

You'll need a torx bit (T-40 i think) that is small, 1/4" hex size like a small phillips bit for a drill. There's a torx bit bolt in the middle of the plenium that needs to be removed to get it off, it's tight - so you need 1/4" drive stuff to get it (bit, holder, extension).

Once you get the plenium off - you should be good to go work on your passanger side valve cover. Drivers side doesn't need plenium removal so I'm assuming you're needing work on the passanger side.
