Decoding VIN

Help, I am trying to decode this VIN number for a 1956 F-100 and from it I know this much (F10V6R-17127)

F10-F100
V- 272 cubic in motor
6-1956

But what does the R stand for and does the 17127 stand for the series number?

Any help would be much appreciated. . .

Where are you looking, are you finding it on the frame or on the tag inside the drivers door jamb?

Here is what I know/Think- f10 (F100) V (272 Y@4400 RPM) 6(1956) R (Manufacturing Plant) - 17127 (VIN one of a kind attached to that specific vehicle)
I know the F10V6 Part but where I am not 100% sure is the R. I cant find a R code for Manufacturing. Mine is H which is Detroit Truck. For example mine is
F10 (F100) D (223 6 Cylinder) 6 (1956) H (Detroit Truck) - 5 # (Individual Truck ID from that Manufacturing Plant.

Hope that helps

Kyle
