for the 73 thru 79 year models ---did Ford keep the same frame dimension's for the f250's and f350's---will any Truck Body fit on any frame for the above captioned years of production---OR will a 73 crewcab body fit on a 77 frame-assuming they're both 4x4's???????--I guess you say this would be the "MIX and MATCH" for building trucks , thanks fordlover

No they aren't I believe 73 to 77 are the same and 78 and 79 are the same. They are close but be careful mounting holes don't line up on some. I do know that 78 and 79 are different from the rest, you can bolt a late model box right on those years but you can't the years prior. I am building a box for my 78 out of a 88 box, I am just replacing the box sides with the sides that match the 78. They actually fit almost perfect except the lower back corner where you need to do some grinding to fit the new sides. Also the tailgate hardware is different but useable. This is a cheaper way to have a good box.

Do you know where the frame dimensions can be found? I would like to know form what years parts will fit on my truck. Its nice to know a late body bed will fit. what has to be ground back to fit?
