rear-end questions

Alright, i have a 98 150 4.6 5 speed. is the rear end the same as a lightning? i have no idea, so i need help. thanks

nope! the 4.6 has the weaker 8.8'' the 5.4 trucks came with 9.75 heavy duty semi floating axles.

The 8.8 isn't a bad rearend, the Mustangs have had them since 86. They are about as strong as a 9". But yes, the 9.75 is stronger. It is real similiar to a Dana 60.
