I have a 2000 Ford Excursion with about 85,000 miles on it. Recently the oil pressure needle had been dancing inside the gauge droping to 0 turning the oil light on breifly, then jumping up to High, then normall once more. Before, It had started once the engine was warm, and now it will do it much sooner.
I thought maybee the oil sending unit was at fault, so I picked up one; unsure where it goes. I see something that looks like it, but unsure. Its on the drivers side down low.
Anyone have any words of wisdom about where exactly it is, or other possibllities why its acting so crazy??

first off you need to get a real pressure guage on it and see whats happening. more or less my thinking is a sludged up oil pump pickup tube inside the oil pan.
do not drive untill you know whats going on or you could be buying a new motor. if you think it's to much work. have it towed to a shop you trust or a near by dealer.
again this is a do not drive repair thats needed.
no matter how you look at it. it's a don't drive untill sure. test for oil pressure if it's good change the sender. if it's not get ready to repair it before you hurt the motor.
