Headers for Six

Thinking about throwing a set of headers on my inline six and tossing a Flomaster on the other end. Worth the money and trouble?

I just got done installing headers on my 84 F150 4wd with the 300 six. It was a lot of work fabricating and getting the exhaust to fit properly underneath the truck, but it is completely worth it in the end. I have a Flowmaster muffler on my truck currently, it sounded good with the EFI manifolds but sounds kinda ricey with headers. I plan on going to either a Dynomax or Magnaflow to take the raspy sound out of it. If you're lookin for power, you'll find it with headers. I got mine from Jegs for $160!

You have to grind/cut on a bracket before they'll fit, IMO unless you are building the entire motor up, it's not worth the time and money if you already have EFI manifolds.

Pkupman82, I know you have to fab in the O2 sensor, but what about the smog pump deal? Im pretty sure its a smog pump, it plugs into the efi manifolds right before the 3 goes into 1. Im pretty set on getting hooker super comps.

It's for the EGR if I remember right. You have to add/weld in a bung and extend the pipe.

My six is carbureted and DE smogged so no O2 sensors here. You could put one in the collector I would suppose.

Yea I planned on getting a collector from Jegs, it comes with a O2 sensor port, but i still have the EGR to worry about.
