reprogrammer detection
I'm near the end of my factory warranty and want to reprogram my truck. I want to set it up a little, hopefully to stay with 87 octane gas. I also have a 6 year extended warranty. If I reprogram it, and return it to stock for a possible problem, can the dealer tell it was reprogrammed? Does the make of reprogrammer matter. I haven't looked at any yet. Thanks- Lou

I have the hypertech programmer which allows the use of 87 octane. Most of the progammers only function differently than stock while at WOT (wide open throttle). I kept mine at 87 octane because of gas prices but do have the settings changed for things like the rev limiter and shifting. The directions say that it stores your factory settings so you can set them back when going in for work at the dealer. I don't think they will know you have ever changed them.
