np205 question

My front output shaft on my np205 has about a half inch of play in and out of the case, I got this case rebuilt from JBG quite awhile ago and just got it installed and had a chance to use it. I put maybe 60 miles on it in 4 wheel drive and its started leaking oil out the front seal and just sounds funny going down the road. Any thoughts on what might be wrong. JBG said they only have a 60 or 90 day warranty (cant remember exactly) but it took me longer than that just to get it in. thanks for the help

im not totally sure on 205's, as ive never messed with them, but sounds like no lube to a bearring, or while it was sitting, crud got into it before it was installed and messed up something. im sure someone who has haad one apart will come along.

make sure the pinion nut is tight

You mean the output yoke nut. (no pinion in Tcase) This would be my first suggestion too as there is nothing in the design of the case that would eaily let whole shaft move in and out that much without it being seriously damaged internally.

as i've been told by many women, nuts are often the cause of many of the worlds problems. gl with the fix. post back up if thats not the case. someone will have the answer.

I checked and the nut on the output yoke is tight, so what do you guys think do I have some major internal problems? Possibly a bad rebuild? How can I tell?

So, the nut is tight holding the yoke on the output shaft? Sounds like there's a thrust washer or something missing on the output shaft. Yea, bad rebuild. The good news, is that 205's are a dime a dozen, and 9 out of ten, the next one you find won't need a rebuild.

Not around here. They are starting to get scarce. Yes, time for a rebuild.

Cutts, you always have too many extra parts laying around. I guess you'd better FedEx two of those down here to Texas for me to put to good use.

I need to score some parts finds like that.

lol i like to have extra parts laying around just in case. in fact i am leaning towards naming the bronco spare parts... that or maybe loose nutsm i dunno

ok get this, i have a fellow EB'r coming down from Pittsburgh to pick up my twinsticked 205 and then driving all the way back to Washington DC to drop it off ar the truck! talk about die hard

I am with fishy NP205s are a dime a dozen I can't imagine them even close to getting scarce, I have one in the race truck 2 still attached to transmissions, and another 2 sitting by themselves and I know where I can get atleast 4 or 5 more without going to a wrecking yard. Heck I don't even think they are worth rebuilding just stuff another one in there.
