I recently got a 1978 Ford Courier for free, however, the engine is seized [Thus, the reason it was free ]. I've been looking to replace the engine, but most rebuilds are between $1,000 and $1,500 which is more money than I've got. I noticed under my hood that there are mazda factory markings on the air filter housing and on the hood itself. During my search for an engine I've come across some riceburner rebuild shops that sell their engines for about $300 to $500 which is what I can afford. So to make a long story short, I need to know what the make of the mazda counterpart to the courier was if there is one? Otherwise, I need another cheaper alternative...Any suggestions
The Mazda B2000 is the vehicle that you are dealing with. I hope this helps you get on the road, and when you get some coins saved up, you buy a real truck with a blue oval on the front.
I think the B2000 is a lil bit too nerw for those mounting brackets, but I'm almost sure that if you look on Ebay or other online auctions, you might be able to find it. What are the links for those ricers?

Welcome to FTE
Which 4 banger engine is it? The Mazda 110 cid 4 banger, or Ford OHC 2300?
In 1977, Ford first offered the OHC 2300 (2.3L) engine as an option. The same engines were used in Pinto's and Mustang II's.
A Courier is nothing more than a rebadged Mazda. The only major changes are the grilles and tailgates.
When the Ranger was introduced in 1982 (as a 1983 model), the Courier was dropped from the line.

Have you had any luck? I've also had a 1978 Ford Courier, but little luck finding parts...if you know of anywhere that you may have found engines for them or anything, let me know please?
My dad is about ready to make a welding trailer out of a 78 courier. When parked it was running and driving just wouldn't stop. I think the engine is still free, ans what we don't use in the trailer is going to scrap.
