Getting the Fire back
I am six years older now and not as energetic. I dont know if I can finish it, dont have the heart for it anymore. No replies necessary, just venting. Restorers take note, dont let your project go on for too long. .

...Bought it in 98. Love the 79 Fords, this is my second one. Bought a house ,took a job that was only two miles a day round trip. No sooner than I got it apart and had it in the paint shop, my job that I only drove two miles a day back and forth to, closed down. I had started the restore myself on it because I wanted it to look good and drive it daily. Got pics of it in my gallery...
So , lost my job but got another one except now it is a 32 mile a day round trip. Had trouble getting it painted by a pro, so I learned how myself and did it. Gas has doubled since I started the restore , so I went ahead and bought a baby pu truck to drive the 32 miles a day. Basically have invested over 18 k in the 79 so far. Its pretty dumb how projects get away from a person. My machinist /high performance engine builder buddy, rebuilt the 351m engine and has wiped out two cams already and we still havent got it on the road, As of today, it is in his garage 80 miles away from me. .
I just got my heated garage cleaned out that I screwed up while painting the 79. Got my remote controlled door opener working, and I LOVE being able to park my lil baby pu in there, and getting to wash it while it is only 20 deg out, and it is soooo warm , when I get in it in the cold mornings whenever I start it up go to work. So, I dont want the 79 truck back in my heated garage, taking up space. On the other hand, I cannot stomach leaving the 79 out in the elements either. I have WAY too much money, blood, sweat and tears invested in it for that....
So I am at a crossroads with it. I want to keep it and finish it up ( just need to buy tires, wheels, and put the restored race track trim back on, exhaust system , in all about another 1800 bucks ) , but I cannot use it as a daily driver. The insurance is over 650 a year. So I have to decide if I can justify this extra cost of owning this gas guzzler just for a hobby. And if I keep it,I will have to extend a carport for it and enclose it to keep all the neighborhoods cats off of it. Even more $$$$$ ...
Now you sorry you asked , Fred ????
