Bizarre car problem
I had the car up on ramps to clean out the throttle body and got the speedo cable all nice and hooked up. I fired up the car, and it ran beautifully and kept it on till it warmed up to normal running temps.
So I decided to take it for a test drive to make sure that the speedometer worked. I turned off the car, ran and got my jacket and then fired her back up and rolled it off the rampstands. And it just died.
So I thought maybe it was a fuel problem. I hadn't filled it up since before the new engine was installed, so I added two gallons of gas. No go. It cranks, but won't turn over. Fuel pump is working. I don't get it.
Any ideas?
if the clamps were loose and the intake came loose from the MAF, that would do it. most cars will not run if the MAF is not in line and sensing airflow.
-I have spark and fuel is getting to the plugs.
-I cleaned the throttle body with some "STP Throttle Body/Air Intake Cleaner"
-Everything is clamped down nice and tight.
After some troubleshooting yesterday I think the problem lies in the wire that goes from the distributor to the engine. Not sure of the properm term(s). As a friend of mine cranked the engine I fiddled with the wires to make sure they were all seated properly and that wire had some effect on it.
I'm not sure though and am actually kind of doubtful that's it. I'm headed to Autozone in awhile so I'll post the results.
Thank you very much for your help!
