Is there really many differences from year to year for the Rangers(besides the obvious renovations in 93 and interior in 95)? I'm looking into getting something post-95(4x4;supercab) and am wondering if there's really much of a difference from year to year.
yeah there is differences in 98' the 2.3l was changed to the 2.5l and then in 2001 it was changed back to a 2.3l with DOHC. Also somewhere down the line the 4.o was made SOHC (more top end hp).98 the ranger was slightly redesigned with a new front end and hood, then in 2001 it was redesigned again. Its all basically the same vehicle though. If you looked at my 97' ranger supercab from the back it would be hard to tell it from a newer one.
also in 4x4 news, '97 i think was the last year for the ttb, they then went to torsion bar ifs suspension, there was a few years where the hub system relied on vaccuum, and it had its problems. many rangers have the push-button electric shift transfer case, i havent had any problems with mine but i have had some issues with my automatic locking front hubs, you can upgrade to manual hubs though.
Arin, poke around this site. they have the Rangers year to year changes listed.
They are listed in blocks of years, where the basic design was the same, then further broken down into the year to year changes within those blocks of years.
