I have a 2004 f-250 crewcab 4x4 and need new tires. I don't want to replace the stock wheels (16x7) but want to go a little taller. 2 questions. (1)..can i go with a 265/75/16 on a 7 " wheel and (2).. this tire is d rated at 3000 lbs and my current tire is e rated at 3042lbs. I pull a fith wheel camper about 5000 miles a yr. camper is about 9000 lbs. will 42 lbs make that much diff. when pulling. any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance
I replaced my E rated pirellies that came stock with a 285 75 16 D rated tire on the stock aluminum 8 hole rims. The D rated tires will give you a better ride when empty but will bubble out more when towing. This will also cause the tire to "roll" on its side wall a little when in a corner. I tow my Jeep on a commercial flat trailer fine with the D rated but it was better when I had the E's.
