Hey guys, I just got myself a '55 F100 and have my first question for you all. I've been looking around and have been very impressed about how much information I've been able to find here already. That being said...
I took a couple pictures of what I found today. Here they are.
The end on the one I got from BOTP was a screw on cap, like the send that goes into the console. But the end into the transmission on the one I removed was quite different as you can see. Is this just a case of BOTP having the wrong item listed? The part listing from midfifity shows an end which matches what I found today: Part 2600 from Midfifty.com
The truck has some modifications which have me asking this question. A previous owner put a shifter on the floor. I think all he did was move the shifter, but I'm not sure he didn't replace the transmission. Hoping you guys can confirm my thoughts that BOTP has the wrong item before I buy another part.
The shop manual for my 1959 shows the one like from mid-fifty, however it also states that heavy duty transmissions had a "threaded sleeve" that screws into the housing.
It looks to me like Blue Oval sent you one for a heavy duty transmission, while mid fifty stocks one for standard types of transmissions.
