allright fellas i have some questions for ya. i have a dana 24 transfer case is it as good as an np205. or is it just junk and also can i twinstick this t case? this is on my 69 f250 4x4 hiboy with a 4 speed tranny and the tcase is divorced. just lemme know thanks.
they're just aas tuff as a 205 in my opinion.. it's been ran hard for 33 years and is the only piece on my entire truck that i haven't had to rebuild.... don't know about the twin sticking it though... why would you need to do that?
I guess it depends on what or how you use them. Only troubles was jumping out of gear. All because of loose old mounts and linkage. After new mounts upper & lower. then upgrade to ball type ends and some of those plastic bushing on the shift-stick..Aw as good as new..But if you want see if you can can screw it up you can,, Yes 203-205 is a upgrade if your giong to be hard on your truck. The speeddometer hooks-up our not the same so you'll have to change the cable out too.. Hope this helps in some way..
orich
I have a d24 sitting on the floor in the garage and from what I can tell, you can kinda twin stick it. If you only seperate the shift rails, you can shift the rear into low neutral and high, but not the front. You can have both in hi or both in low as well. Or maybe my case is worn out. I really didn't look at it to figure it out internally. I just pulled on the rails. So technically you could have 2wd low if you used one shift stick per shift rail.
but the dana 24 is plenty tough unless you mud bog
i've bogged mine for the past 9 years with 38.5 inch tires and haven't had any problems....i you gently shift it into 4lo from neutral you can grab 2 low on a single stick.... or just unlock the hubs and not worry about it....
