pulling codes on 84 bII

I am trying to pull the codes on my 84 BII with a 2.8 and can't find the diagnostic port. Does anyone know where the diagnostic port is on this truck? The haynes manual said it is usually on the passengers side firewall but I can not find anything that looks like that in the engine compartment.

thanks for the help. I didn't think so but I read adout someone that had an 85 that was having problems and they were told to pull the codes. and I looked at the 85 wiring diagram and It looked just about like th 84. I just thought I was missing something. Thanks again for the help.

yeh remeber though im not sure i THINK they started the computer controled in 1985 regaurdless the only way to be sure is to look on mine its in the top left corner by the windsheild you may have to stick your hand down that space near the blower to get it if its there also you can look at the carb and see if theres plenty of wires running to it and hardly any vacum hoses that would hint a mostly computer controled carb and i would be wrong let me know what you find

The 84 is indeed computer controlled. There is a big black box on the passenger side inside the engine compartment where a bunch of wires come out of. Pull the cover off of the box and you will find the computer connections for reading the codes. 1983-85 Rangers and 1984-85 Bronco II's with the 2.8L are carbureted and computer controlled. A common soution to the problems with this system is to do a duraspark conversion from 1978-79 pinto/mustang II parts.
