had edelbrock intake(can't remember which) on my old 78, loved it, i will definately be supporting this sponsor as soon as i get to the motor part of my project
I personally avoid Edelbrock products. While Jr has finally come to the conclusion that if you manufacture products that produce less performance than the OEM, your life is very short. That is exactly what Jr did in the 80's...almost all of their products were casted or stamped-formed in Mexico and China with final machine work completed here (at the El Segundo facility). Trying to get product information out of them was also like pulling teeth. I personally drove to their El Segundo offices to inquire about specific items and their design (power band ranges) differences for my application and was repeated told by sales and engineering staff that they would not provide that information and it must be obtained from their distributors- even though it was explained to them and I presented a letter from a major speed parts distributor, that they did not have nor would Edelbrock staff return their request for information.
It may just be my stubborness, but once I am snubbed for requesting information a manufacturer should have, I almost consider that an interview for the expectation of future customer service. In this case, I will avoid their products.
This event occured in November 1986 as I was building the engine for my 65 stang, at a cost for parts and machine work of over $3,500. Ed Reath who balance the engine even placed a phone call in my presence to them of which they politely declined his request for infomation and then hung up the phone. He turned to me and said, "That's why we don't do alot of work with Vic's company".

Edelbrock has shown me great products and fine support. I installed a 1406 on both of my last 460 trucks and WOW what a difference they make in the torque. You could tune the stockers all day and not get them to pull the same low end grunt that the Edelbrocks did. I've also used an Edelbrock intake and a 1406 on my old Camaro and was impressed with that too. I've played with a few Holleys too and even tho they are a good product I'll stick to the Edelbrocks.
I dont normally disagree with ya ben. But he said 1980s not, 2000 or so.
I did have some..But i dont...anymore. It was a carb. and we havent used that the truck since 1992
Yes, that's why I edited the post because I wanted to reflect that this occured in 1986 and in the 90's, his children effectively began running the daily operations. As most will rememeber, in the 1980's, weiland & offy literally took over that portion of the industry. It appears they have returned to the business practices of Vic Sr.....where customer interface really makes a difference.
