Fan space removal

I am going to an electric fan on my truck and I need to make some space between the engine and radiator. I took the fan off and tried to remove the 2 inch aluminum spacer mounted on the front of the water pump pulley and it doesnt budge. Is that pressed on or fastened someway? I tapped it with a hammer but I dont want to damage it. Any ideas?

Tap it sideways one way, then on the other side. They can be pretty tight, but they will come off. Try some WD-40 or equivalent where it joins to the water pump.

yeah it will just knock out, the only thing that holds it on is the same bolts that hold the fan...its been on there for years so its just stuck....and after you get it off, take the bolts down to the hardware store and match up some shorter bolts to hold pulley on...i cant wait to get an elec. fan for my truck...i think it makes a motor look alot better without a big fan right there in front.....
